Creativity Through Storytelling Workshop

Thinkers Lodge, Pugwash, Nova Scotia

September 2-4, 2011

led by Jay O'Callahan and Mandi Kujawa

Friday, September 2nd 7:00 pm – Sunday, September 4th 12:00 pm

"Each human being is a galaxy -- parents, friends, enemies, fictional characters, experiences, fears, uncertainties circle within us like planets. Stars burst into life and die within us. Yet we live most of life superficially, unaware of our vast inner world." Jay O'Callahan

Jay will draw out characters from your inner galaxy. He will show how he finds a gesture, a moment, a phrase or an image, which swiftly tells the truth of a character. The workshop will be a time to bring characters alive. Jay will tell some short stories and use his "sparks" to draw out memories. This work-shop is for everyone, not just storytellers, because we are all filled with stories.

Mandi Kujawa (Banff, Alberta, Canada) will co-lead the workshop with O'Callahan. She is a singer, storyteller and librettist and has been co-leading workshops with Jay for over ten years. Mandi will add sound, rhythm and music to the workshop.

Jay will tell his story the “Herring Shed”, which was created after spending time on the Gulf Shore Road in Pugwash, Nova Scotia. Read about it here.
