Adirondack Community College

Thursday morning, elementary school performance.

 

Thursday evening beginning at 7PM Jay will perform his NASA story, Forged in the Stars . NASA commissioned him to create and perform this story to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Forged in the Stars is intended for an adult audience .

 

Friday Jay will lead an all day storytelling workshop. The workshop will be limited to 20 participants.

Jay O'Callahan and Will Moses will be featured at the Eric Carle Museum from 1-2PM, presenting Raspberries, a book written by Jay and illustrated by Will. Jay will tell a few short stories, including his book version of Raspberries. Will Moses will present the beautiful artwork from the book. Both Will and Jay will engage in a book signing after the presentation.

Workshop: Like Fireflies: The Art of Creative Storytelling

Hollyhock Center, Cortes Island, Canada

Jay will lead a 6-day workshop, Stories Are Like Fireflies, in which he will help you call forth some of those fireflies in a simple and playful way. When a memory just appears the storytelling is often fresh and interesting; the details are sharp as is the sense of place, characters and the event itself. Jay feels these fireflies, these forgotten memories, are at the heart of storytelling. Songwriter/storyteller Mandi Kujawa from Banff, Canada will assist Jay.

In exploring storytelling we will explore voice, sound, rhythm, silence, gesture and imagination. At points throughout the weekend Jay will use his own stories to demonstrate these tools. Co-facilitating will be Mandi Kujawa from Banff, Canada. Mandi is a songwriter, singer, storyteller and librettist who will lead the participants in a variety of playful and helpful sound exercises.

5-Day Writing and Storytelling Workshop

Alice's House, Humarock, Scituate, MA

This 5-day workshop offers an in-depth opportunity to work with the art and craft of storytelling. All participants should be familiar with Jay's work and teaching and have significant storytelling experience. All participants will have the opportunity to experience a 20-minute private session with Jay, a chance to talk about your goals or whatever you want. Mandi Kujawa, singer, songwriter, storyteller and librettist from Banff Canada, will co-facilitate the workshop.
